Elizabeth Ehlers 1917-2003

Our World has lost a great lady ,we feel that it has been diminished. However our lives have been enriched by knowing her. How nice that she saw her efforts blossom into the new place and enjoyed it for a year ,and how great ,that she passed away in a cloud of love.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. We loved her like our own Nana. What a life she had. I had a wonderful long talk with her last summer about some of the things that had happened in her life - and I will always remember that special time with her. We will miss her dearly.

Our family has been very sad since receiving your email yesterday. After last summer when your Mom looked so well I thought for sure we would have her for a few more summers anyway. She was one of those people whom I always looked forward to seeing again and felt as if we had talked every day between visits.

I have always felt she was the smartest and luckiest person I ever knew. She was able to surround herself with family and friends who just adored her and in the process was able to make a living for herself doing something she would have been happy to do without pay. I wish I had the ability, as she did, to separate the things that make me happy from the things that I think I want. A person would have to work a lot less if that was possible. She could have traded Sandy Beach for a lot of money anytime and I'm sure she knew it, but she also knew it couldn't have brought her nearly as much happiness as kowning her love did. She had 86 enviable years as a free spirit and that makes me feel somewhat better about her passing.

Her Grandkids are most surely the luckiest in the whole world. With a Nana like her in a place like Sandy Beach I don't know how it could possibly have been better for them. The ones I know would have fought to the death forher. Nancy and I have visited many places, but Sandy Beach has always been the favorite place of all. A large part of that was due to your Mother being there.

I'm sure you and your family are struggling mightily and you have our deepest sympathy. Our family loved her very much and will miss her always. Please convey our thoughts and sympathy to the rest of your family.

In sympathy, Jim Curtis and Family

We are so sorry to learn of Elizabeth's passing. She was a wonderful, caring person who gave so much to everyone. She will always be in our hearts.

Sincerely, The Richl Family

It is with such sadness that we read that Elizabeth had passed away. The obituary in the Vancouver Sun brought smiles and also tears to us.

We have many fond memories of Sandy Beach - miss the old hotel with the crocheted bar stools and rickety kitchen table, but love the stylish new look.

Elizabeth was an incredible lady. May she rest in peace.

I cannot express how sad we are over the passing of Elizabeth. I am thankful for the time we spent with her on her back porch last month. She really was one of the most wonderful people that we have had the pleasure of knowing and we are honoured to have been called her friend and shall never forget her. Thank you for carrying on her legacy in Sandy Beach Motel. She could not have left her place in better hands. We look forward to seeing you again in September. Our sympathy to the family.

Silvio, Joanne, Olivia

It was with great sadness that we received the message regarding your mother's death. Our annual pilgrimage will simply not be the same without Elizabeth's cheerful smile and warm welcomes.

However, we see the spirituality and energy that you cherished in her still very much alive in you. We are comforted in knowing that, in that manner, what she believed in will carry on.

Please accept our sincere condolences.

Michel, Elaine, Alexander, and Carson. Mary and Edward Fetherstonhaugh.
